PEMEX 48" PIPE RELINING

When "PEMEX" , Mexicos largest oil company was having problems with pipe deterioration they called on the best in the pipe lining industry, US Sewer.

Because of the highly flammable materials running through the 48inch diameter concrete pipe this made the job extremely risky. If an accident were to occur it could literally affect millions of people in the large city of Monterrey Mexico, home to over five million residents. Not only was the flammable material inside the pipe an extreme hazard but the large diameter of 48" and the length of 3,000 feet also presented a challenge. The large pipe was first plugged in order to choke of the heavy flow of hazardous material. The liquids were then bypassed to a downstream treatment plant 3,000 feet away using three large 12inch pumps. The pipe was then flushed clean and televised using the latest equipment and explosion proof technology. When this process was complete US Sewer's team of lining experts went to work by inserting a new vynalester pipe liner the entire 3,000 foot run. Although Mexicos largest government owned oil facility received bids from as far away as Europe and Austrailia they decided on the best, US Sewer & Drain.

In order to stay on a strict schedule The Us Sewer crew starts early at the PEMEX facility in Monterrey Mexico.

The 48 inch diameter liner is pulled out of the refrigerator truck using powerful hydraulic rolls then inverted into the pipe using large amounts of water.

Ruben Santiago oversees a team of workers as guide ropes and circulation hose is pulled into place.

After the liner is fully inverted , a forman gives the order to fire up the boiler and start the cooking process.

Because of the large diameter pipe, Extra circulation pumps are added in order to help with curing process.

Harold Barnes cuts away excess lining material with a special numatic chain saw.
