NASA GODDARD FLIGHT CENTER - WASHINGTON DC
When NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was having trouble with the sewer system at the NASA Goddard Flight Center in Washington DC, they called the nations best in cured in place pipe lining to fix the problem, US Sewer & Drain, Inc.
The fifty year old, six inch diameter clay pipe stretched more than eight hundred feet from manhole to manhole. The overwhelming challenge was that sewer line in question serviced existing buildings used for ongoing, 24 hour testing of space flight equipment. US Sewer & Drain's team of highly trained technicians quickly established that this was no ordinary job. Not only would it prove challenging to install the pipe lining material but also contend with the high security issues of being on site at the NASA flight center. Because time was a factor, a plan was devised to have two crews work consecutively. One crew would begin instillation's upstream as the other started downstream. With in 72 hours the pipe was fully rehabilitated with little to no interruption in the facilities or personnel at NASA.
