FAM CO.

One of the countries largest property development companies FAM Co. was having problems with a 30 inch diameter storm line at a newly constructed multi shopping mall in Philadelphia Pa. This storm line was constructed then backfilled to a depth of 20 feet deep. Not to mention a 24 screen movie theater was constructed directly on top of the pipe. As it turns out, the contractor who initial installed the pipe used the wrong material as well as the wrong compaction techniques. This resulted in separated and offset joints as well as a bad infiltration problem through out the entire run of 1,500 feet. The local municipality deemed the pipe unsatisfactory as well as unsafe. It was surmised that if the problem was let go any longer it may result in a “Sink Hole” possibility .After meeting with the municipality engineers US Sewer & Drain convinced them the answer to the problem was not to dig an replace but to Reline .the township engineers gave Us Sewer the go ahead.

After televising of the pipe US Sewer & Drain determined that the badly offset joint would first need to realign. This was accomplished utilizing interior stabilizing methods before installing the liner. After the joints were properly realigned 1,500 feet of 30 inch diameter x 15mm thick cured-in-place liner was installed. The crews worked around the clock for several days in ensure the job was done right. All the while patrons sat and enjoyed their movies oblivious of the critical job going on right underneath.
